AFRICAT’S NEW CASE FOR SUPPORT watch this space . . .
THE NEW STRUCTURE
AfriCat Welfare and AfriCat Conservation
Two sister foundations AfriCat and Afri-Leo have, over the recent
years, moved closer together. This will continue to be the case
in the future.
The current AfriCat, based at farm Okonjima
and hereafter termed AfriCat Welfare, will continue to focus on
welfare, rehabilitation, farmer-carnivore conflict, youth education,
evaluation of the Cheetah and Leopard rescue and release programme,
and the very exciting new game and rehabilitation camp, which will
be completed by the end of 2009.
The current Afri-Leo, hereafter termed AfriCat
Conservation, was
co-founded in 1997 by Tammy, the eldest Hanssen sibling and her
husband Uwe. AfriCat Conservation is based at farm
Kaross, now a game ranch which borders the western Etosha National
Park and is ideally situated to take on the full role of Human-Wildlife
Conflict mitigation on the communal farmlands of the northwest,
as well as on farmland surrounding Etosha. This centre is currently
involved in Environmental Education for the youth as well as communal
farmer support and aims to become an integral part of the communal
conservancy phenomena.
More information will follow once the CASE FOR SUPPORT has been
approved by ALL AfriCat Namibia and AfriCat UK members.
