AfriCat Education wins Green Trust Award

In May of 2000, AfriCat and its Environmental Education Centre were
selected as a finalist (in the Natural Resources Category) of the WWF
Green Trust Awards. The awards seek to recognise the work of individuals,
communities, and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution
to the environment.

The Natural Resource Category was for “projects aimed at conserving natural
resources, preferably with a developmental and educative edge” and was
sponsored by the Mazda Wildlife Fund.

The judges commented that AfriCat, as a small organisation, has made a large
contribution to conservation in Namibia, especially by addressing the “dire need
for large carnivore education in the country”.
