Cheetah release Google map

The camera icons are sightings and the red sighns are the kills witnessed. The kills depend on the AfriCat tracking team finding them before they have moved off.

These maps can be a bit misleading as it only represent the kills we actually found the cats on. Many of the kills the other 4 rehabilitated cheetahs we dont see as they seem to catch a lot of small things which they finish quickly and move on.

The siblings make a lot of large kills and stay with them for a couple of days so we find their kills more often, but it does not mean they are doing better than the others.

The condition of all the cats stay pretty much the same so it means they are all eating.

For the last couple of weeks none of the rehabilitated cheetahs had to be fed.

What i am noticing is that the sibling have a lot of success in the open, more savanna areas and the others seem to do better in the thickets. Then again most of your steenbok and duikers stay in the thick stuff too during the day.

All Cyclops kills have been next to the fence and he still has not left the fence since his release. It may have to do with his sight but not sure. Another thing is that the groups have not split up and stayed the same as they were in their welfare camps.

Unfortunately it seems that all the “wild ones” have become very relaxed which might be a problem later on if released onto farmland. But it also shows that the bigger the group - the better they do.
